Privacy policy

This policy covers talkie-ai.io, the reader site. It does not cover Talkie, which runs its own data practices on the web version and in its apps. On Talkie's side, worth knowing: the operator sits under a China-based group, and chats are stored on their servers rather than end-to-end encrypted, which is why the access page says to keep anything sensitive out of them.

What kind of site this is

talkie-ai.io is something you read, not something you log into. There is no account, no profile, nothing to upload. That keeps the data footprint small: analytics counts, ordinary server logs, and a couple of cookies.

Server logs

Each request is logged: IP address with the final octet dropped after 24 hours, timestamp, the URL requested, referrer, and user-agent. This is operational data, used to fix broken pages, spot abnormal traffic, and defend against automated abuse. The anonymised log is kept for 30 days; the raw log with a full IP is discarded within 24 hours.

Analytics and cookies

Aggregate analytics show which pages get read and which get ignored, in counts rather than named people. The age acknowledgement you give at the door is stored locally in your own browser, under the key that keeps the notice from reappearing on every page, and it never leaves your device. That single mechanism is the same one described on the age policy page. Anything beyond strictly necessary measurement runs on consent, with a clear way to opt out.

Legal bases

Processing relies on two bases under Article 6 GDPR: legitimate interests for operational logs, security and site improvement, and consent for any measurement beyond the strictly necessary.

Where data sits

The site is hosted on infrastructure in the European Economic Area. Where a vendor sits outside the EEA, it handles only anonymised or pseudonymised data and is bound to GDPR-equivalent terms.

Your rights

You can ask what is held, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Because the site holds so little and nothing that names you, most requests are answered by pointing to the retention windows above. Requests go through the contact on the about page, and the site is maintained by Melissa Blake.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date below moves and the schema timestamp updates, on the same schedule described in the methodology. The independence rules are in the editorial standards, the usage rules are in the terms of use, the content position is on the § 2257 statement, and the place to reach Talkie itself is the access page.
